Speaker:
Mark Simmons, Former KCBS President

Mark Simmons has been with the Kansas City BBQ Society almost 15 years. He began his membership by taking the Certified BBQ Judging Class in 2005. In 17 months he judged more than 30 contests and became a Certified Master Judge.

During that time he responded to the appeal of a KCBS board member to begin training as a contest rep or official. Now, almost 15 years later, he has been a contest rep at more than 200 contests, served two terms as a KCBS Board of Director, President of the Kansas City BBQ Society.

As a CBJ Instructor, he has trained more than 2500 students on judging barbecue "The KCBS Way." As a former college professor and public speaker, he gets great delight out of his students becoming certified then becoming Master certified judges. He makes every effort to make the class interesting, educational, funny and engaging to his new judges.

Mark and his wife, Donna, reside in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and he owns his own company. His family is his life, his company is his livelihood and KCBS BBQ is his passion.
